An extended release formulation of diltiazem which isnsuitable for once-daily oral administration comprises anquantity of a quick release preparation of diltiazem or anpharmaceutically active salt thereof, mixed with a quantitynof a slow release (or delayed release) preparation ofndiltiazem or a pharmaceutically active salt thereof. Thenpreferred embodiment is a capsule containing thenformulation, which, based upon the total quantity of drugnin the formulation rather than total weight of thenformulation, comprises up to approximately 25 per cent bynweight of the quick release preparation of diltiazem, andnup to 75 per cent by weight of the slow (or delayed)nrelease preparation of diltiazem. |
