titleOfInvention | Agent for treating urine specimen |
abstract | Urine precipitates are frequently formed upon urinenstorage and the precipitate is a big obstacle for conductingnan accurate assay and for sampling a large number of samplesnbecause minor constituents, such as analytes to be measured bynimmunoassay, biochemical assay, etc., are possibly incorporatedninto the precipitate. The present invention provides an agentnfor treating urine for solving the problem of the precipitatenformed during storage of the urine and also provides a methodntherefor. When urine is treated with an agent for treatingnthe urine sample where said agent contains a buffer in the pHnrange of 6.5 or more, the precipitate which is nformed by storing the urine can be solubilized. Saidnprecipitate can also be solubilized by making the pH ofnurine 6.5 or more. In addition, when the precipitate formed bynstoring the urine is solubilized or said formation is inhibitednor prevented, it is now possible to subject a large number ofnsamples to assay by an easy operation even on a mass scalenwhereby a correct and clinically significant result can benobtained. |
