abstract |
Reacting a diol (1) with a carbonic ester (2) to producena cyclic carbonic ester (3) using a salt of a weak acid withnan alkaline metal or alkaline earth metal as a catalyst. Thendiol (1) contains diols having an asymmetric carbon atom. Thenreaction mixture is neutralized and distilled to obtain a cyclicncarbonic ester. Cyclic carbonic esters are produced using anneasily accessible and easy to handle reactant, with good yieldnand under mild and moderate conditions. |
