Assay systems and specialized antibodies for the detection andnquantitation of troponin I and troponin T in body fluids as annindicator of myocardial infarction. Since troponin I and Tnexist in various conformations in the blood, the ratios of thenmonomeric troponin I and T and the binary and ternaryncomplexes, as well as which form of troponin present in thenblood, may be related to the metabolic state of the heart.nDisclosed is a system to determine the presence of a troponinnform or a group of troponin forms in a sample of whole blood, nserum or plasma. Disclosed is a stabilized composition ofntroponin; the stabilized composition can comprise a stabilizedncomposition of troponin I, wherein the troponin I is oxidized, nthe troponin I can be unbound or the troponin I can be in ancomplex. Disclosed is a method for improving the recovery ofntroponin I or T from a surface used in immunoassays. Alsondisclosed are antibodies which recognize, unbound troponinnforms, the forms of troponin in binary complexes, the ternaryncomplex of troponin I, T and C, and the conformations ofntroponin I having intramolecularly oxidized and reducedncysteines. |
