Dendritic polymer based networks, consisting ofnwell-defined hydrophilic and oleophilic (i.e., hydrophobic)ndomains, are capable of performing as nanoscopic sponges fornelectrophilic guest moieties, such as (i) inorganic andnorganic cations; (ii) charged or polarized moleculesncontaining electrophilic constituent atoms or atomic groups;nand (iii) other electrophilic organic, inorganic ornorganometallic species. As a result, these networks yieldnnovel nanoscopic organo-inorganic composites which containnorganosilicon units as an integral part of their covalentlynbonded matrix. |
