abstract An aromatic polycarbonate composition prepared by a process comprising the steps of: (1) transesterifying at least one liquid feedstock selected among molten mixtures of aromatic dihydroxy compounds with diaryl carbonates and molten prepolymers prepared from the above mixtures under the conditions satisfying a requirement represented by the formula (I) log (S/V) ≥ 2 x 10-5 x Mn + 0.8, (wherein S represents the evaporation surface area (m2) defined as the area (m2) of the exposed surface of the liquid feedstock; V represents the volume (m3) of the liquid feedstock present in a polymerizer; and Mn represents the number-average molecular weight of an aromatic polycarbonate to be produced) to prepare an aromatic polycarbonate (A), (2) adding a thermoplastic resin (B) different from the component (A) to the component (A), and (3) kneading the components (A) and (B) together.
