The invention provides a twisted nematic liquid crystalndisplay with improvements in viewing angle characteristics ofndisplay contrast, gray scale characteristics, and nominal color.nThe twisted nematic liquid crystal display comprises at leastnone compensation film formed substantially from a liquidncrystalline polymer exhibiting optically positive uniaxialitynwherein nematic hybrid orientation formed by the liquidncrystalline polymer in a liquid crystalline state has been fixed,na driving twisted nematic liquid crystal cell constituted ofna pair of transparent substrates equipped with electrodes andnnematic liquid crystals sandwiched between the substrates, andntwo polarizing plates arranged up and down on the liquid crystalncell, wherein the product (Δnd) of the refractive anisotropyn(Δn) of the nematic liquid crystals constituting the liquidncrystal cell, multiplied by the thickness (d) of the liquidncrystal layer in the liquid crystal cell, is in the range ofn200 nm to 500 nm, or the driving voltage of the driving twistednnematic liquid crystal cell when indicated in white is set suchnthat the tilt angle of the nematic liquid crystal moleculenconstituting the liquid crystal cell is in the range of 10 ton30° . |
