A method for recovering crystalline 2,6-dimethylnaphthalenencomprising crystallizing in a scraped-wall crystallizer apparatus atncrystallization temperature T, a mixture of low melting components, LM,nhaving melting points of 70°F and below, and high melting componentsn(HM), including 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene, having melting points aboven70°F, such that:n HM LM < 0.03 (T-50) + A, nwhere HM is the total weight percent of high melting components, nincluding 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene, in the mixture, and LM is the totalnweight percent of low melting components in the mixture, and where T isnthe temperature of the crystallization in degrees Fahrenheit, and where Anis at least 1.0. |
