abstract Disclosed is a developing roller to be employed in andeveloping device which is incorporated in electrophotographicnapparatus such as printers, duplicators, receivers fornfacsimiles or the like, and in which toner carried on the surfacenof the roller being or not being kept in contact with anphotoreceptor is transferred at least to the photoreceptor.nThe developing roller is characterized in that an elasticnconductive layer is formed around the conductive shaft of thenroller, that the outer surface of the elastic conductive layernis covered with a surface layer, and that the surface layer isnformed from a resin composition of which the contact angle withna drop of a liquid consisting essentially of a component similarnto the resin component constituting the toner to be used in thendeveloping device is not smaller than 35°. In the developingndevice, toner filming occurs little around the developingnroller, and the initial density of the images formed is good.nIn addition, toner cracking occurs little in the developingndevice.
