abstract The novel polyfunctional peroxides are compoundsnrepresented by the following general formula (1):n R 1 -CX 3 n wherein R 1 represents a linear alkyl group having 1 ton3 carbon atoms; and X represents a group:n (wherein R 2 represents a linear or branched alkylngroup having 1 to 5 carbon atoms). nSuch polyfunctional peroxides include 1,1,1-tris(t-butylperoxycarbonyloxymethyl)propanenand the like. Thenpolymerization initiators for vinyl monomers comprise suchnpolyfunctional peroxides. In the process for polymerizingnvinyl monomers, a vinyl monomer is polymerized employingnsuch polyfunctional peroxide at 60 to 160°C.
