abstract |
The present invention discloses a process for producing anbraided suture having an improved knot strengthncomprising heating a braided suture coated with a lownmolecular weight biocompatible polymer to a temperaturensufficient to melt the low molecular weight biocompatiblenpolymer for a time sufficient to allow the low molecularnpolymer to be redistributed into the interstices of thenbraided suture thereby providing a coated braided suturenwith an improved knot tensile strength. Also disclosednis the coated braided suture having a low molecularnweight polymer optimally dispersed throughout the braidednsuture's cross-section. |
