Coated substrates having improved release characteristics |
abstract |
Substantially branched alkenyl silicone polymer compositions havingnon average at least two branching points per molecule are coated on ansubstrate. The cured coated compositions provide improved releasenproperties against methyl and phenyl silicone pressure sensitive adhesives. n The coated release substrate comprising a substrate layer, the curednrelease coating and a methyl ornphenyl silicone pressure sensitive adhesive is useful as transfer tapenor sheet facilitating the transfer of the pressure sensitive adhesivenfrom the substrate comprising the cured release coating to a secondnsubstrate which may be a single layer of material or a laminatencomprising two or more layers. These releasable compositions may be usednin devices where a release layer is desired such as transdermal patches,nband-aids and other medical appliances. A laminate may be formed byncontacting one or a plurality of layers with that side of the coatednsubstrate carrying said pressure sensitive adhesive. n The materials useful as the substrate layer and as the layer or layersnin contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive are selected from thengroup consisting of cellulose based substrates such as paper, film basednsubstrates such as polyolefin films, polyester films, polyamide filmsnand polyurethane films, and cellulose based substrates that have beenncoated with film forming materials derived from polyolefins, polyesters,npolyamides and polyurethanes. |
