abstract |
An improved process for preparing a nitrogen or oxygenncontaining organoalkoxysilane such as an isocyanurate or fumarate bynreacting a haloalkylalkoxysilane such as anchloropropyltrimethoxysilane and a reactant of either a cyanate or annammonium salt of an organic acid of C1-C20 carbon atoms or a metalnsalt of an organic acid of C1-C20 carbon atoms or mixtures thereof at anreaction temperature of at least about 80°C to about 200°C, comprisingncarrying out the reaction in the presence of a guanidinium salt phase as antransfer catalyst such as hexaethylguanidinium chloride. Preferably thentemperature increase from the exotherm reaction above the reactionntemperature ranges from about 0°C to about 120°C. A preferred metalncyanate is sodium cyanate. |
