titleOfInvention | Bromine compound production method |
abstract | A high-purity bromine compound which is useful asnflame retardant, can be obtained industriallynadvantageously by a process comprising reacting brominenwith an aliphatically unsaturated compound of formulan(1) :n R 1 -O-Ar 1 -Y-Ar 2 -O-R 2 nto produce a bromine compound of formula (2):n R 3 -O-Ar 1 -Y-Ar 2 -O-R 4 n wherein in each formula Ar 1 and Ar 2 arenindependently a C 5-16 aromatic hydrocarbon or a C 5-12 nsaturated alicyclic hydrocarbon, and Y is a C 1-6 nsaturated hydrocarbon, a sulfone, sulfide, ketone ornC 2-6 alkylene oxide or is a single bond; R 1 and R 2 are each independently a C 2-11 hydrocarbonngroup which is at least partially unsaturated; andnR 3 and R 4 are groups obtained by saturating with anbromine atom the unsaturated groups of R 1 and R 2 nrespectively, nwherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of ansolvent which is inactive in the reaction, and ansubstantial amount (e.g. 80% or more) of reaction heat isnremoved from the reaction system by the vaporization heatnof the solvent or bromine. |
