titleOfInvention Waste water treatment process and system for biological phosphorus elimination
abstract The invention relates to a method and a device for the purification of waste water by the activated sludge process and in particular to a device for the extraction of wash-out water which is enriched in carboxylic acids as part of the device according to the invention. According to the invention, primary sludge separated in a primary treatment plant is fermented in a separate fermentation plant in such a way that the fermentation mixture has a pH in the range between 4.0 and 8.0 and / or a redox potential in a range of -100 and -400 mV, based on Silver-silver chloride electrode. The fermented primary sludge is rich in carboxylic acids, which are obtained after washing out and separating the fermented primary sludge in the form of a washout water enriched with carboxylic acids. The washout water enriched in carboxylic acids can be added to the anaerobic stage of an aeration tank, where the carboxylic acids serve as food and energy sources for microorganisms which remove phosphorus from the waste water. In sewage treatment plants which use the method and the device according to the invention, a large part of the phosphorus can be removed from the wastewater in a biological manner.
