titleOfInvention Expandable stent
abstract A cylindrical stent (10) for placement in a vessel ofna human body. The stent has a longitudinal axis and in itsnformation includes circumferential arcs (12) and diagonalnstruts (14) having an intersection angle between thencircumferential arcs (12) and the diagonal struts (14)nwithin the range of 10 to 80 degrees when the stent (10) isnin its non-deployed state. The diagonal struts (14) arenjoined by curved sections (18) to the circumferential arcsn(12) which collectively form a closed perimeter cell. Thenclosed perimeter cell has two parallel, circumferentialnarcs (12) located at the longitudinal extremeties of thenclosed perimeter cell and the circumferential arcs (12) liengenerally perpendicular to the stent's longitudinal axisnwhere the stent (10) may be deployed in a manner so thatnalthough the length of the stent (10) increases duringndeployment, at the nominal fully deployed diameter, thendeployed stent (10) is substantially the same length as thennon-deployed length.
