abstract A catalyst precursor, catalyst, prepolymer, methods for preparing same andnolefin polymerization processes employing such catalysts are provided. Thencatalyst precursor is prepared by the process comprising adding a magnesiumnsource to a solution comprising at least one transition metal compound and annalkyl halide, wherein the magnesium source is prepared by reacting magnesium,nan alkyl halide and a Bronsted acid. The catalyst precursor, catalyst,nprepolymer and polymer exhibit a relatively large mean particle size, a reducednamount of fines and the prepolymer exhibits an increased molecular weight.
