abstract The present invention relates to a method fornproducing taxane-type diterpenes by culturing cells of antaxane-type diterpene-producing plant, the methodncomprising increasing the content of cell clusters ofnsuitable size for diterpene production in the culture by:n (a) physically separating at least some of thenlarge cell clusters prior to main culture;nand/or (b) culturing the plant cells under strongnagitation conditions. n The present invention also relates to a method fornproducing taxane-type diterpenes by culturing cells of antaxane-type diterpene-producing plant, the methodncomprising:n (A) preculturing the plant cells in an oxygennenriched environment; (B) supplying the resultant cells to a main culturenso as to produce taxane-type diterpenes; and (C) recovering the taxane-type diterpenes from thenresultant culture.
