Increasing blood-brain barrier permeability with permeabilizer peptide derivatives of bradykinin |
abstract |
Peptides called receptor mediated permeabilizers (RMP)nincrease the permeability of the blood/brain barrier tonmolecules such as therapeutic agents or diagnostic agents.nThe permeabilizer A-7 or conformational analogues can benintravenously coadministered to a host together withnmolecules whose desired destination is the interstitialnfluid compartment of the brain. Alternatively, thenpermeabilizer A-7 or conformational analogues can benadministered sequentially with the molecule(s) of interestnand these molecules can also be administered by routesnother than intravascular. The permeabilizer A-7 ornconformational analogues allow these molecules to penetratenthe blood-brain barrier and arrive in the interstitialnfluid. |
