abstract | A liquid crystal composition, for display devices of an active matrix addressed mode, having a good miscibility at low temperatures and a high voltage holding ratio is disclosed. The liquid crystal composition comprises, as a first component, at least one compound selected from the group of compounds expressed by formula (1-1) or (1-2) and, as a second component, at least one compound selected from the group of compounds expressed by formula (2), (3), (4) or (5), wherein R?1, R2 and R3¿ independently represent an alkyl group of 1-10 carbon atoms; A, B and C independently represent 1,4-phenylene H atom at a side position of which may be replaced by F atom; X1 represents F, Cl, CF¿3?, OCF3 or OCHF2; Y?1 and Y2¿ independently represent H or F; Z1 represents -C¿2?H4-, -C4H8- or single bond; and Z?2¿ represents -C¿2?H4-, -C4H8- or -COO-. |
