abstract A novel TRAF family molecule, a polynucleotide coding for the molecule, an antibody against the molecule, and an antisensenpolynucleotide of the molecule. The base sequence of a gene of an unknown TRAF family molecule and the amino acid sequence of thenTRAF family molecule coded for by the above gene have been elucidated by conducting a polymerase chain reaction using cDNAsnoriginating in various cell strains or tissues as the template by using an oligo-DNA primer which can amplify the best preserved domainsnamong known TRAF family molecules. The TRAF family molecule, the gene and the antibody serve to provide means for elucidating thenfunctions of the proteins and for elucidating the signal transducer system of a TNF-R family in which the molecule participates, to providenprobes for research and diagnosis, and to indicate applications for therapeutic agents.
