The invention relates to an automated baggage/parcel samplingnchamber for use in a portable detection and screening systemnfor detecting molecular vapor from a target material ornparticulates containing a target material, said targetnmaterial including explosives chemical agents, drugs ornnarcotics, said chamber comprising a plurality of samplingnheads containing rotating brushes for sweeping and collectingnvapor from the environment surrounding the object andnparticulate matter attached to said object a means fornautomatically moving said object through said automatednbaggage/parcel sampling chamber a control system whichncontrols the operation of said automated baggage/parcelnsampling chamber and a detection and screening system forncollection and detection of any molecular vapors of a targetnmaterial present in sample volume of air. |
