abstract | A process for the production of dimethyl 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate,nwhich process comprisesnesterifying with methanol 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acidnobtained by liquid phase oxidation of 2,6-dialkylnaphthalenenwith molecular oxygen in the presence ofnan oxidation catalyst, and then purifying the thus obtainedncrude ester in the presence of an aromatic hydrocarbonnsolvent, in which process impurities contained in anreaction product can be effectively removed with simplenprocedures, and nāāāa process for the production ofnnaphthalenedicarboxylic acid, which process comprisesnoxidizing dialkylnaphthalene and/or an oxide thereof withnan oxygen-containing gas in a solvent containing a lowernaliphatic carboxylic acid and in the presence of annoxidation catalyst comprising at least cobalt, manganesenand bromine, the oxidation being carried out using, as ancatalyst component, a solid naphthalenedicarboxylic acidnmetal salt. |
