titleOfInvention Radial expandable support device (stent) I
abstract The invention relates to a radially expandable support structure for keeping lumens open within a body, in particular a blood vessel, which comprises a tubular body with a wall surface which extends between a first and a second end and is formed from elongate, interconnected members, with a first Group of links which extend essentially in the longitudinal direction of the tubular body, adjacent links of this first group being connected in pairs to one another at their ends to form a pair of links enclosing a slot, these pairs of links approximately with link pairs arranged in the circumferential direction of the tubular body are connected in the middle of their longitudinal extent to form a ring encircling the longitudinal axis of the tubular body and a plurality of rings connected to one another at the ends of the slots along the longitudinal axis of the tubular n body are arranged. In order to greatly reduce a shortening of the length when the support structure is widened, the rings are connected to one another by elongated members of a second group of members, each slot of one ring, viewed in the circumferential direction of the tubular body, being arranged with part of its length next to two slots of an adjacent ring is so that the slots of adjacent rings overlap.
