The present invention provides a method of controlling Sesamia species in crop plants, but especially in maize and other cereal plants, including, but not limited to, Sesamia nonagrioides, S inferens, S calamistis, S cretica, etc. comprising applying a toxin protein of Bacillus thuringiensis to the crop plant to be protected. The toxin being preferably CryIA(b) a vegetative insecticidal protein (VIP), or a mixture thereof. |
