abstract |
Propylene (PP) homopolymers, satisfying one or more of the following conditions when fractionated by dissolving in boiling xylene, cooling to 25 degrees C at 10 degrees C/hr. and separating at increasing temperature into fractions with differing tactic arrangements (TREF process): (i) the proportion of polymer remaining undissolved on heating to 112 degrees C, ≥ 20 wt.%; (ii) the proportion undissolved at 117 degrees C ≥ 8 wt.%; or (iii) the proportion undissolved at 122 degrees C ≥ 1 wt.%. Also claimed are: (1) a process for production of homo-PP; (2) PP homopolymers obtained by this process; and (3) film, fibres and moulded products obtained from PP. |
