titleOfInvention | Process for preparation of hydroxynaphthalenes |
A process for the preparation of hydroxynaphthalenes of the formula (I) wherein n represents a number from 1 to 6, preferably 1 or 2, X C 1 -C 6 alkyl, halogen, carboxyl, carboxylic acid ester, nitro, chlorosulfonyl, arylsulfonyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, acyloxy or an amino or aminosulfonyl optionally substituted by alkyl or aryl, or two radicals X together with the adjacent carbon atoms to which they are attached form a fused aromatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic ring, m is a number from 0 to 6, where for m greater than 1, X can each have different or the same of the meanings given above, characterized in that naphthalenesulfonic acids of formula (II) or their salts where n and m have the meaning given above and X 1 has the same meaning as X, but optionally represents SO 3 H substituents instead of OH substituents bonded to aromatic radicals, reacted with alkali in the presence of an alkylated urea derivative, the hydroxynaphthalenes thus prepared being suitable, for example, for the mass coloring of plastics and as precursors for the preparation of diisocyanates, pigments or dyes. |
