A high-response, wide-range thermistor material which has linear temperature resistance characteristics and a high rate of change in the temperature resistance in a wide temperature range from room temperature or below to above 1000 °C. The thermistor material comprises a matrix of an electrically insulating ceramic and second-phase particles discontinuously dispersed in the matrix, and the second-phase particles are semiconductive or conductive and comprise a material having a high rate of change in the temperature resistance. Further, at least one additive for regulating the electric resistance, selected among nitrides, borides, silicides, sulfides, oxides, and carbides of group IVa-VIa and IIb-Vb elements, third-phase particles having a lower modulus of elasticity than the matrix and the second phase particles and having the effect of relaxing the internal stress, and a resistance stabilizer comprising TiO2 and/or TinO2n-1 (wherein n is 4 to 9) may be added. |
