abstract | Disclosed is a graft copolymer (A + B) of a styrene-basednmonomer (A) and a terminal styrene derivative-modifiednolefin-based macromer (B) of formula (1), having anhigh degree of syndiotacticity for the stereospecificity ofnthe chains derived from the styrene-based monomer:n nR is H or alkyl; X is H, halogen, or a substituent havingnone or more of C, Sn and Si; n is 1 to 4; m is 0 or annatural number; Z is a chain moiety derived from an olefin-basednmonomer. The copolymer is prepared by copolymerizingn(A) and (B) in the presence of a catalyst comprising (a) antransition metal compound, (b) (i) a specific oxygen-containingncompound and/or (ii) a compound capable ofnreacting with the compound (a) to form an ionic complex,nand optionally (c) an alkylating agent. The graftncopolymer (A + B) and a styrene-based resin compositionncomprising the graft copolymer (A + B) or comprising thenmacromer (B) have good heat resistance, good chemical nresistance, high stiffness and good miscibility withnvarious resins, and are useful as component parts forncomposite materials and also as heat-resistant elastomers. |
