titleOfInvention | Process for the biodegradation of aromatic compounds and synthesis of pigments and colorants, alcaloids and polymers, with the use of the recombinant strain escherichia coli p260 |
abstract | The microbiological process for the biodegradation ofnaromatic compounds and synthesis of pigments andncolourants, alkaloids and polymers, through the use of anrecombinant strain E. coli P-260 is characterised by thenconstitutive expression of the enzyme 4-HPA hydroxylase ofn K. pneumoniae . This enzyme is involved in the degradationnof 4-Hydroxyphenylacetic acid (4-HPA), one of the compoundsnpresent in black olive liquid ( alpechin ). The lownspecificity of the substrate of the enzyme and its doublencatalytic activity: A) Hydroxylation of monohydroxylatedncompounds into hydroxylated intermediaries and B) oxydationnof di-hydroxylated compounds to quinones, provide for itsndouble use: 1) degradation of toxic aromatic compounds ofnthe ambient environment and 2) synthesis of organicncompounds of industrial interest, of which the structurenbase is a quinone. |
