abstract | An electrochromic device comprising a pair of electrically conductive substrates (A,B)ndisposed facing each other and each having at least on its inner surface an electrode (12a,12b) atnleast one of said electrically conductive substrates comprising a transparent substrate (11a,11b) andna transparent electrode, an ion conductive material (16) inserted between said pair of electricallynconductive substrates, an electrochromic material -containing layer (14) disposed betweenneither one of said electrodes and said ion conductive material and an ultraviolet absorptivenlayer (13) disposed between either at least one of said transparent substrates and the electrodendisposed thereover or on the surface of said transparent substrate opposite to thentransparent electrode disposed thereover, said ultraviolet absorptive layer (13) being formed byncoating and curing on the surface of said transparent substrate a reaction product of (A) annaminosilane compound of the formula (I) or the derivative thereof and (B) an ultravioletnabsorptive material having in is molecules a carboxyl group, n said formula (I) being represented byn n wherein R 1 is a C 1 -C 10 alkylene group or a divalent group of the formulan-(CH 2 ) m -NH-m in which m is an integer of 1-4, the groups R 2 are the samenor different and each selected from the group consisting of a hydrogennatom, a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom, a C 1 -C 10 alkyl group and a C 1 -C 10 nalkyl group provided that at least one of the groups R 2 is an alkoxy group orna hydroxyl group and n is an integer of 0 or greater;nsaid reaction product having amide bonds derived from said aminosilane compound or thenderivative thereof. |
