abstract |
A process for preparing a 2-cyanobiphenyl compound represented by the formula (II): <CHEM> wherein R<1> is an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or hydrogen atom, from a phenylmagnesium chloride compound represented by the formula (I): <CHEM> wherein R<1> is as defined above. According to the process, a 2-cyanobiphenyl compound represented by the formula (II) can be economically, simply, industrially and advantageously prepared. |
