titleOfInvention Coating method and coating apparatus
abstract A coating method and coating apparatus capable of providing a coated film (7)nof improved surface properties free from any streak and color shading and facilitatingncoating on a sheet material (1) of an increased width without causing enlargement of thenapparatus and thus complicating its structure. A swirling motion imparting mechanismn(33) and an orifice (39) are arranged at a connection between a liquid feed pipe (20) andna coater (10). Swirling motion is imparted to coating liquid discharged from a pump (23)nand then a flow velocity of the coating liquid is immediately increased to a level as high asn200 cm/s or more, the liquid then being fed into a pocket (12) of the coater (10) within 0.1nsecond or less. This permits shearing to act on the coating liquid, to thereby effectivelynprevent a variation in viscosity of the coating liquid and flocculation thereof, so that thencoated film (7) may be improved in surface properties.
