Use of water dispersable mixtures of polyisocyanates as concrete additives |
abstract |
Additives for inorganic binders used to make mortar or concrete, comprise water dispersible polyisocyanate mixtures (M1) that have an average isocyanate functionality of 1.8-4, contain 4-25 wt.% (cyclo)aliphatic isocyanate groups (calculated as NCO ; molecular weight = 42), contain 5-80 wt.% ethylene oxide (EO) groups (calculated as C2H2O ; molecular weight = 44) in the polyether chain and contain a statistical average of 5-50 EO groups in the polyether chain. Also claimed are (i) similar mixtures (M2) that have an average isocyanate functionality of 1.8-3.5, contain 6-21.5 wt.% aliphatic isocyanate groups, contain 5-75 wt.% EO groups in the polyether chain and contain an average of 5-25 EO groups in the polyether chain and (ii) similar mixtures (M3) that have an average isocyanate functionality of 1.8-3.5, contain 4-13 wt.% cycloaliphatic isocyanate groups, contain 10-70 wt.% EO groups in the polyether chain and contain an average of 5-25 EO groups in the polyether chain. |
