titleOfInvention | Coated agricultural pesticide granules, process for preparing the same, and use of the same |
abstract | The present invention provides a coated granularnpesticide comprising a granular pesticide, which comprisesnat least one hardly water-soluble active ingredient and atnleast one water-swelling substance, and a thermoplasticnresin-based film which covers the surface of the granularnpesticide; a method for producing the same; andnapplications thereof. It is preferred to incorporate, intonthe film, a surfactant, inorganic powder insoluble ornhardly soluble in water, water-absorbing and/or water-solublenpolymer fine powder, a thermosetting resin, or anbiodegradable polymer insoluble or hardly soluble in water, nor a combination thereof. The coated granular pesticide ofnthe present invention can externally release the hardlynwater-soluble active ingredient according to the followingnmechanism, due to the combined effects of the thermoplasticnresin as the film-forming component and the water-swellingncomponent as the core component. The water-swellingnsubstance absorbs the water present in the exterior of thencoated granular pesticide, which gradually penetrates intonthe granule through the coating film, the granularnpesticide containing the water-swelling substance graduallynexpands, cracks are thus formed on the film after thenelapse of a predetermined time, a large amount of waternrapidly enters into the granule through the cracks thusnformed, the coated granular pesticide is rapidly swollen tonthus greatly grow the cracks and to thus rapidly ndisintegrate the film and the hardly water-soluble activeningredient included in the coated granular pesticide isnthus brought into close contact with a large amount ofnwater to externally release the active ingredient. Thenforegoing components to be incorporated into the film servento control the disintegration time of the resulting film.nThe gradual release of the hardly water-soluble activeningredient is initiated after a predetermined time from thenapplication of the coated granular pesticide and therefore, nthe latter exhibits a desired efficacy depending on anparticular crop without being accompanied by any problem ofndamages of crops from the pesticide and of environmentalnload. n For instance, the coated granular pesticide of thenpresent invention may directly be applyed on the ground ornmay be used in the form of a mixture with soil, butnpreferably the coated granule is used in the form of ansubstrate for raising seedlings, which may be obtained bynadmixing with a seedling-support substance having water-holdingnproperties. |
