titleOfInvention Preparation and use of biocidal solutions
abstract Stable soln. for prodn. of chlorine dioxide comprises a chlorite (I), a chlorine donor (II), an alkali (III) and water. (I) and (II) are in the molar ratio 1.0:0.1 to 1.0:15. (III) maintains the pH at >= 10. The minimum concn. of chlorine dioxide is 0.5 ppm. Also claimed are: (A) a method of introducing chlorine dioxide into a system for bleaching or disinfecting comprising reacting the above solution with acid; and (B) reacting (I), (II) and acid in situ.
