This invention provides DNA fragments fornefficiently preparing a protein having asymmetric hydrolasenactivity for 4-substituted 1,4-dihydropyridinenderivatives, transformants obtained by using such a DNAnfragment, and a process for preparing the aforesaidnenzyme. Specifically, an isolated gene derived from thenchromosome of Streptomyces viridosporus and encoding anprotein having asymmetric hydrolase activity for 4-substitutedn1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives, plasmidsnhaving the aforesaid gene integrated thereinto, transformantsnobtained by using such a plasmid, and a processnfor preparing the aforesaid enzyme by using such antransformant are disclosed. A process for the enzymaticnconversion of 4-substituted 1,4-dihydropyridine derivativesnby using the aforesaid enzyme is also disclosed. |
