abstract A method for surface treating metallic objects is described, wherein a layer of a cellulose derivative, such as cellulose acetate and cellulose acetobutyrate, is applied on at least a portion of the surface of the object to be worn in contact with the skin. The metallic objects thus treated are substantially non-allergenic. The method is useful for jewellery and metal accessories for clothes.
