abstract A plurality of fiber strands made of high-strength glass fibers 7 having a filament diameter of 5 to 8 µm are collected, are dipped in an RFL liquid, are heat-treated and are then first-twisted, thereby forming a first twist yarn 6. 10 to 13 first twist yarns 6 thus obtained are parallel-arranged and are subjected to a final twist in a direction opposite to the first twist, thereby forming a tension member 2. The number of first twists is set at 4.0 to 6.6 times per 10 cm and the number of final twists is set at 8.0 to 9.4 times per 10 cm, so that static damage to the tension member is reduced without impairing the shape stability and workability of the tension member, thereby increasing the flex fatigue resistance of the belt.
