A link (54), and assembly (12) and instrumentn(10) using same, for transmitting actuating forces fromnan actuating member (20) to a work member (52). Thenlink (54) includes a link body (60) having a distal endnand a proximal end. The distal end of the link body isnmovably interconnected with the work member (52) by andistal interconnection element such as an arcuatengroove-and-flange assembly (62, 80), and is inter-connectednat its proximal end to the actuating membern(20) by a proximal pivotal interconnection element (64,n65). The proximal element (64, 65) transmits a firstnactuating force (118) from the actuating member (20) tonthe work member (52). A shoulder (66), disposed on thenlink body (60) preferably between the distal andnproximal elements for interconnecting, engages thenactuating member (20) when a second, greater actuatingnforce (124) is applied to the actuating member in andirection opposite to that of the first actuatingnforce. The greater force (124) is thereby transmittednfully to the work member (52). The link assembly (12)npreferably includes a spacer member (90) to assistnpositioning of the actuating member. |
