The invention relates to a corrosion inhibiting composition, ncomprising at least:n A) a carrier of an oily or waxy type; B) active components comprising at leastn B1) a corrosion-inhibitor of the azole-type; and B2) a co-corrosion-inhibitor, selected from the group consistingnofn (a) fatty acids having 6-24 carbon atoms, aromatic acids andnnaphthenic acids, which acids have the free acid form ornthe salt form; (b) imidazoline derivatives having an C 6-24 alkyl moiety; and (c) C 6-24 alkylsuccinic anhydride compounds;nas well as a mixture of compounds defined under (a), (b) and/orn(c); and C) optionally a compound selected from the group consisting ofn C1) a water repellent; C2) a synthetic ester derived from a C 1-10 alcohol with 1-12nhydroxyl groups and C 6-24 fatty acids; and C3) a C 6-18 alcoholnas well as a mixture of compounds defined under C1), C2) and/or C3). n Such a composition is suitable for application on elongatednobjects of steel, covered with a coating of a material having annelectrode potential, exceeding the electrode potential of steel ornhaving a rate of corrosion, which is less than the rate of corrosionnof steel. Further the invention relates to elongated objects ofnsteel, in particular steel cords treated with a corrosion inhibitingncomposition according to the invention. Another object of theninvention is a process for treating elongated objects of steel withnthe corrosion inhibiting composition according to the invention.nRubber articles, which contain elongated objects of steel like steelncord, treated with the above-mentioned composition do also fallnwithin the scope of the invention. |
