titleOfInvention | RADIAL EXPANDABLE AND FLEXIBLE VESSEL SUPPORT |
abstract | A radially expansible lumenal prosthesis (10) comprises a plurality of body segments (12, 14) which are joined by universal articulation structures (16). Each universal articulation structure (16) consists of a serpentine ring (20) and two pairs of beam members (22, 24). By joining adjacent body members (12, 14) to the serpentine ring (20) using beam members (22, 24), an articulated connection is provided while permitting radial expansion of all components. Optionally, linear elements (46) within the body segment or segments (42) may be protected and/or anchored by loop structures (60) joined to or between longitudinal elements (46) of the terminal body segments. |
