abstract | A cryostat microtome with a cryostat chamber (1) and a microtome (2) arranged in the cryostat chamber (1) comprising a specimen holder (4) and a knife holder (8) is described. In order to obtain a high dynamic with regard to temperature changes and thus a quick adaptation to changing consistency of the preparation, it is proposed according to the invention to provide a coolable preparation holder and a coolable knife holder, both the temperature of the preparation holder and the temperature of the knife holder being adjustable independently of one another. Higher quality cuts can also be achieved via the free and independent temperature setting of the knife and preparation. |
