abstract |
A selectively gas permeable film having at least one layer composed of ancomposition comprising: 50-98% by weight of a saponified product of ethylene-vinylnacetate copolymer; 0-45% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol having a saponificationnvalue of 60-95 mol.%; and 0.1% or higher by weight of at least one species havingnan average molecular weight of 4,000 or lower selected from the group consisting ofnmonomers, oligomers, and polymers of either one of alkylene glycol or hydroxy acid.nThe content of the at least one species does not exceed its saturation solubility for thensum of the saponified product of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and the polyvinylnalcohol. The selectively gas permeable film has a high ratio of carbon dioxide gasntransmission rate to oxygen gas transmission rate. The film is very useful fornpackaging water-containing foods, especially fermented foods. |
