titleOfInvention Method for controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine
abstract There is provided a method for controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine.nSaid engine comprises an air intake system having a throttle valve, an exhaust systemnhaving an exhaust control valve, a fuel injection means, an accelerator means, and ancontrol device for controlling engine components in response to engine operatingnconditions detected. Such engine operating conditions maybe engine speed and/ornengine load. Said method comprising the steps of:n detecting an engine operating state, determining whether said engine operating state is a stationary operating state or antransient state, controlling an opening degree of said exhaust control valve toward an opening degreencorresponding to the engine speed and/or engine load responsive opening degree ofnthe exhaust control valve during the stationary operating state, and controlling saidnopening degree of said exhaust control valve to a different opening degree during saidntransient operating state, compared to the stationary operating state conditions, for thensame engine speed and/or engine load.
