titleOfInvention | Adhesion promoters for anionic bituminous emulsions |
abstract | This invention relates to rapid set, medium set, andnslow set anionic emulsions prepared from straight bitumennor bitumen modified by the incorporation of polymers suchnas styrene butadiene rubbers (SBR), styrene blockncopolymers (SBS), ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA),nand other suitable modifiers. The invention also relatesnto emulsions modified by the incorporation of solventsn(such as diesel oil or kerosene) or by the addition ofnpolymer latices (such as SBR-latex or natural rubbernlatex). More particularly, the invention relates tonimproved methods for enhancing adhesion between asphalt andnaggregate in anionic solventless and solvent-containingnbituminous emulsions wherein the emulsifiers are alkalinearth salts of tall oil fatty acids, fortified tall oilnfatty acids, tall oil rosin and fortified rosin as well asncombinations of kraft lignin and nonionic emulsifiers. Thennovel adhesion promoters utilized in these improved methodsnare the polyamidoamine condensation reaction products ofnpolyalkylene polyamines with monomeric tall oil fatty acidsnand polymerized linoleic acids. Further improvement innadhesion can be obtained via adding paraformaldehyde to thenreaction. |
