abstract A process for industrially producing 7-benzylpurinenderivatives is provided. n A triacetylpurine nucleoside or a tetraacetylpurinennucleoside formed from a purine nucleoside or its alkalinsalt is reacted with a benzyl halide to benzylate then7-position, and an acid is then added to the reactionnmixture to hydrolyze a glycoside bond. Finally, ancrystallization solvent is added to the hydrolyzate forncrystallization, and the crystals formed are isolated.
