abstract Oxazole derivatives of the formula (I)n nwherein one of R and R 1 is a methylsulfonylphenyl, an aminosulfonylphenylnor an alkylaminosulfonylphenyl, and the other is a cycloalkylnhaving 5 to 7 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted by lowernalkyl, a thienyl optionally substituted by lower alkyl or halogen atomnor a furanyl optionally substituted by lower alkyl or halogen atom, andnR 2 is a lower alkyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.nThe oxazole derivatives and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereofnhave superior antipyretic action, analgesic action, anti-inflammatorynaction, and particularly, selective inhibitory action onncyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and are expected to be useful as annantipyretic agent, an analgesic agent and an anti-inflammatory agentnwith less side-effects such as disorders in the digestive tract.
