abstract Remote communication device with a self-contained module (1) associated with an object (2) of which the position and/or the movements are to be determined. The device includes an electronic CPU (3) for managing the information from one or more terminal devices (4), one or more mobile electronic terminal devices (4) for locating, identifying and controlling one or more self-contained modules (1), and one or more mobile electronic self-contained modules (1) for identifying the object (2) in which it is located. The device is characterised in that each self-contained module (1) and each terminal device (4) are provided with omnidirectional transceiver means operating at ultra-high frequencies, or so-called decimetric waves. The invention is preferably used in stock management applications.
