titleOfInvention | Infectious dna clone of the tick-borne encephalitis (tbe) virus; recombinant vaccine derived from the said clone and production of the said vaccine; and a pharmaceutical product containing a replicable nucleic acid |
abstract | Disclosed is an infectious clone of the tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus comprising the complete nucleic acid sequence and variants or mutants derived therefrom which code for an infectious TBEV-RNA transcript. The nucleic acid sequence is preferably a cDNA which codes for an infectious TBEV-RNA and so modified as to trigger production of attenuated TBEV which can be used to produce a vaccine. The invention also makes available a pharmaceutical product containing a replicable, and if desired infectious, nucleic acid such as RNA which codes for a complete virus, a viral particle or a biologically active product. According to the invention, the pharmaceutical product for immunisation, prophylaxis or therapy is administered in a physiologically acceptable carrier and the complete virus, virus particle or biologically active product is produced in vivo. |
